Bryan, who travelled to the past to find his lost lover, Mercy, discovers her to be the wife of Nodonn, pureblood Tanu, leader of The Host of Nontusvel i. In book 1 hhe raid of Finiah is just foreplay, in the concluding Chapters of book 2 the real deal happens. Basically you expect something big as a result of the disturbance in the balance the Exiles brought with them.

The goldne of the human and alien refugees continues in this second book of the Pliocene Exile. Their story tocr picked up in the second book in the series, but I can only imagine that when The Many-Colored Land was first published, it felt incomplete and unfinished. When the daughter race demanded that the Tanu and Firvulag discard their ancient battle-religion and rejoin the rest of the race, a small number refused to and chose to fight a final apocalyptic war to the end.
Their latent metapsychic abilities, once brought to operancy by the Torcs, are on average stronger and display a wider range of abilities than the operant abilities of the Firvulag; however, the Firvulag outnumber the Tanu considerably, which for a long while jilian that there was a balance between the two races. Madame and Sister Amelie get noble deaths, one for renunciation, the other for the benefit of the world.
Taking place immediately after the events of the first two books which I wrote about here and herethe Tanu, Firvulag, and humans find themselves in the midst of a lot of social upheaval. Those human women who are less talented but are beautiful end up in houses of pleasure where they are forced to service the sexual needs of Tanu.
The winners of the last year’s Combat host the next year’s. The daughter race intervened to prevent this, and so the remaining Tanu and Firvulag fled with a sympathetic Brede in her Ship into another Galaxy to fight their Nightfall war to the end. The humans from the group focused upon in the first novel are continuing to make a large contribution to the alien society they have found themselves in.

In a French physicist discovers a way for people to go six million years into the past in the Rhone Valley of present day France. May is clearly interested in at least some of the characters from Group Green, especially Aiken Drum and Felice. It may be a synthesis of other powers creativity, psychokinesis, and farsense? So much good world building, with attention to the mag detail that made it so clever.

I think, certainly for the s when this was published, it is overall a progressive presentation of her.
